Our podcasts on the Smithsonian and more
We are excited to announce that three of our featured artivists are now, thanks to us, featured on the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street: glass artist Lisa Blanchard, underwater photographer/videographer Polly Dawson, and plaster artist Liz Ames.
The latest featured guest on our Women Mind the Water podcast is visual artist and muralist Adriana Delfin. Adriana studied visual arts in the School of Arts and Design at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Adriana says murals are public art that provides viewers a chance to connect with artists. She believes that it is an artist's responsibility to inform the public about their impacts on the ocean.
We’ve got a lot of out-of-the-ordinary and probably unexpected posts lined up. Next will be an interview with Taji Riley and Sam De Los Santos. These Rocking the Boat alumnae will discuss their experiences with the Bronx-based afterschool program that empowers young people by having them work together to build wooden boats, learn to row and sail, and restore local urban waterways. Future guests will include Jen Ensley director and founder of the Akumal Art Festival (Mexico), porcelain artist Guenola Lefeuvre (Brittany and Maine), and many more.
So please visit Women Mind the Water often and subscribe to the audio version of the podcast on iTunes. But don’t miss the video versions. You really need to see the artist and the work she is describing.
