New Year, New Work
A new year means new possibilities. Two new episodes have been added to our podcast catalog: Episode 6 features Jess Newley, a Washington-based environmental educator and underwater photographer. Episode 7 features Liz Ames, an art educator who uses plaster to create art from the treasures she finds along the Maine shore. Upcoming episodes will feature a glass artist, underwater wedding photographer, and a violinist whose music promotes environmental stewardship and response to the urgency of climate change.
Because collaboration is the heart of Women Mind the Water, we are pleased to share news of two most recent collaborations. Kate Hruby, founder of Go Forth and Science, and Women Mind the Water founder Pam Ferris-Olson have produced a piece entitled Whale Watcher. It combines Kate’s imagery with Pam’s poetry. View it on our home page and, if you are interested in owning a poster, visit our shop; as always all proceeds go to charity. Also, one of Pam’s photographs was recently published at Sage Femme Press. A Life Well Lived can be seen in the photograph section of our website.
And, for those of you who live in Maine, registration is now open for participating in our free online book discussion of Rachel Carson’s The Sea Around Us. Email womenmindthewater@comcast.com to enroll. A copy of the book will be included. The discussion project is being supported by the Maine Humanities Council.
