End of year message
Women Mind the Water is grateful that you have spent time in 2020 visiting our website. We have accomplished much and been recognized often in this first year of going online. All WMW podcasts, six episodes to date, have been included in the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street collection. We are proud of and grateful for this association and look forward to continuing it in the next year. The Museum on Main Street offers audio, video, and transcript versions of all our podcasts. The latest WMW Episode 6 podcast with Jess Newley, an underwater photographer and science communicator/educator, was the latest to be archived by the Smithsonian, click here to visit their site. Also, the story I wrote about climate change artist Jill Pelto, WMW podcast Episode 3, can now be read online at Maine Women Magazine beginning on page 36.
Expect more good things for 2021. New podcasts feature such artists as an underwater bridal photographer, one who captures sea life in plaster, another who creates sea imagery in glass, and yet another who creates practical art from rope washed up on the beach. There also will be new images of marine animals - an octopus and three delightful beluga whales - in the art section. AND, if you live in Maine, consider joining the online book discussion of Rachel Carson’s The Sea Around Us. To join the discussion, beginning in February, email me to enroll. The free discussion along with a copy of the book is being supported by the Maine Humanities Council.
Wishing you all the best,
Pam Ferris-Olson
