Episode 3, iTunes, More
Let me start with an apology. With each new addition to the site I’m experiencing a learning curve. This was the case when the Women Mind the Water podcasts became available on iTunes. There was a problem with the audio. This has been fixed and hopefully won’t happen again. Now there are three ways to enjoy the podcasts: the Audio Podcast and Video Podcast are available on the Women Mind the Water website and a third audio-only version is available on iTunes under Women Mind the Water. I am hopeful that I will soon have an announcement that the video podcasts will be available through the Museum on Main Street, part of the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, and the audio version on Sound Cloud.
The latest podcast, Episode 3, is a discussion with Jill Pelto who combines her knowledge of earth and climate science with her talent in watercolor. Jill’s paintings make important environmental topics more accessible by making them emotionally relevant. Episode 4 will feature Michelle Lee Provençal, a needle-felt designer whose work draws upon her deep connection to the Maine coast.
If you haven’t seen it yet, there was a very nice article about Women Mind the Water in the September 8 online version of The Forecaster. The article by Alex Lear discussed the work Women Mind the Water is doing to celebrate the bond between women, water and storytelling. My article about Hope Rovelto, the independent screen printer who does Women Mind the Water T-shirts, will soon be available. Look for it in the October edition of Maine Women Magazine. And in November, my article on Jill Pelto and her experiences studying glaciers in Washington State and Antarctica should be available.
Please visit the Women Mind the Water website often, recommend it to others, and email me at womenmindthewater@comcast.net if you have suggestions or would like to discuss collaboration. Also, be sure to visit the Women Mind the Water shop to view the T-shirts screen printed for us by Hope. Remember the purchase helps to support an independent businesswoman as well as charity.
