Our latest Women Mind the Water Artivist Series podcast features two guests: Pam Chevez and Juliette Sutherland. Pam originally from Mexico City and Juliette Sutherland from Western Massachusetts, two places not located along the coast, produced Behind the Waves. Their documentary focuses on women surfers in Maine. Pam and Juliette combined their creative talents to document the surfing experience through the lens of women. They’ve also supported a community of women who love to surf. It’s definitely not your typical surf film. It is a film about women, by women. These surfers wear wetsuits NOT bikinis ‘cause surfing in Maine is a winter sport! If you’d like to read a transcript of the podcast check it out the Museum on Main Street platform.
Our next guest will be Janina “Nina” Rossiter, an author, illustrator, and graphic designer. Nina who lives in Paris, France shares her love of the sea in many ways including the creation of children’s books like Diamonds, Hearts & Sea Stars! and 123 Who’s Cleaning the Sea? Nina’s work is passionate and beautiful. Her work is driven by the belief that the future depends on our actions today.
An interview with Women Mind the Water founder Pam Ferris-Olson is now available on Water Women. It’s episode #81, Women Mind the Water Please! – Pam Ferris-Olson. Pam was earlier featured on the Ocean Pancake Podcast with host Katt Andryskova (Australia). The Water Women Podcast is hosted by Jill Corey (New Brunswick, Canada). Pam is delighted to be connecting with a growing list of like-minded women podcasters. Together we are building a community of women who mind the water.
