Women Mind the Water Digital Stories Project
is a collection of digital stories told by women living across the country. The stories highlight their unique experiences and connection with water.

These stories inspire reflection, awaken connection, and encourage acceptance of our shared responsibility to protect our oceans.

Contact us to find out how to submit your own story. We may feature it here and submit it for inclusion in the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street Waterways exhibit.

The term women is not prescriptive. We celebrate diversity in all its forms. We oppose discrimination including gender stereotype, race, ethnicity, ability, and age.

Now, there’s a Women Mind the Water Featured Guests series! Women artists explore their connections with the ocean and how these influence their art and their art influences others. New conversations with artists will appear regularly. Nominate an artist to be included. And, yes, it can be YOU!
