As changes in climate warm the ocean, marine animals are moving northward. One of these is the black sea bass, a predatory fish. The sea bass, a species that once preferred Mid-Atlantic waters, has become a regular visitor to the Gulf of Maine. It is feared that the presence of the predatory fish will have a negative impact on the lobster population in Maine.
Scientists and fishermen also have noted that lobsters appear to be moving northward. It is possible that within 40 tor 50 years the bulk of Maine lobsters will occupy Canadian waters and, therefore, be unavailable to Maine’s fishermen and women.
